IF WE WON THE LOTTERY…

The jackpot and the lottery of the child are the most famous prizes of Christmas. All people dream of earning a millions of euros and stop working forever. Every year, people support a long queuing to buy tenth of lottery in the most known administrations like “Doña Manolita”. They spend big quantities of money with the illusion of being winning. In Christmas Eve and Twelfth Night they get up early to watch in tv the raffles and the lucky ones celebrate it for everything high with his families. The least lucky must to expect to have more luck the following year.

IN THE SHOPPING CENTRES IN CHRISTMAS

In these days, the shopping centres are full of desesperate people who want to find the perfect present for the family and friends. They are prepared to spend the necessary money, waste all the day and to stay in a long queuing to wrap the gifts. They usually put the shopping off for the last hours of 6 January when there are less toys in the gifts shops. Toys, clothes, jewels, perfumes…the presents are very different and the possibilities are enormous. All people want to receive some gifts for Father Christmas and in Twelfth Night but they must to be good all the year if they don’t want to receive a piece of coal.

NEW YEAR´S EVE IN MADRID!!

What did you do on New Year´s Eve??

This is a common question on the First of January but If you have been in Madrid at this time I´m sure that you will have to tell a lot of things more than if you have been in anywhere!!

Madrid is famous because of its night life and I can ensure you that on New Year there is more people than ever!! The streets are full of people who celebrate the new year.

Where to go? Well, this is a difficult question because There are more than thousand places to go! Everything depends on what kind of place you prefer to go, what kind of people you want to find and how much money you want to spend!!! I can only recommend you that you should start to looking for a place as soon as posible because when first you start you will get a better price! In you feel insecure, it can cost you 20 or more euros!!

What are the conditions? First of all, in the most of places you will be to dress up!

What´s included in the price? Well, It´s usually included the drinks (you cand drink every you want) and some "canapés" (It´s strange you can be hungry!). In someplaces, the wardrobe is free but in others you will have to pay 2 euros (aprox).

So, well these "fiestas" start at 12 o´clock (after the grapes!) and finish at seven o´clock when you should follow the tradition and go to have breakfast "chocolate con churros" in one of the bars you will find open!! Only, follow the people!!

THE 3 WISE MEN CAVALCADE

A traditional thing of crhistmas is the travel that the kings does the fifth of January for give the presents. The ryde kings of the downtown is the most famous of the city.First, you must go at least two hours before it start for pick a good spot.When the first carriages appear people is happy and the children excite them. At the beginning pass people in disguise and the horses. Below the carriages decoratet with dolls and bright colours. From the top children throwing candy. Are always of the coach of macdonalds, caja madrid, real madird.. During the ryde children catch candy and they enjoy the spectacle. In the end people flooded the streets and I recommend as an endpoint to grab “roscón” and chocolate.

A DAY OF CHRISTMAS IN MADRID

The first thing you should do to make the most of the day is to get up early and take a good breakfast. You could start by going to see the nativity scenes that are scattered around the city centre, for example, the nativity scenes at the Town Hall, the Royal Palace, the main square... I recommend that you take the tube to get there. Then, you could hang around the stalls at the 'plaza' or main square, which sell small figures and pieces for the nativity scenes, wigs, masks, jokey stuff... For lunch, you should try the traditional squid or scampi sandwich. In the afternoon, it is a good idea to go ice skating in one of the ice rinks which there are in the city. Finally, you should take a stroll down the streets enjoying the lights and the Christmas atmosphere.
